Irish National Opera

Tuesday 8 August

11am, 11.45am, 12.30am, 1.15pm, 3pm, 3.45pm, 4.30pm, 5.15pm, 6pm

Experience the world’s first virtual reality community opera.

Out of the Ordinary/As an nGnách tells the tale of a community forced to flee their barren homeland, which, due to their own actions, can no longer sustain them. Nalva, our main character, builds a boat to take her people on an epic journey to find a new home.


This VR opera will bring you to an imagined world, realised through animation, creating a truly unique   experience where you will have the ability to move around and interact with the environment, and re-imagines what opera can be for a new digital age.

Written by composer Finola Merivale and librettist Jody O’Neillworking with director Jo Mangan and students from rural Ireland and communities from Inis Meáin, Tallaght and South Dublin.

Due to the nature of VR, this experience will be unsuitable for audience members who: are under 14,are pregnant, are prone to seizures, fits or epilepsy, are fitted with a pacemaker, are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, have a serious medical condition that affects their balance or vision.

This quirky love story about two mischievous characters who meet in a home. It’s not easy to get by in this crazy old world is it? But Fred and Alice have discovered that all you really need are 2 tennis rackets, disproportionate reactions to minor accidents, an immature coping strategy and each other. 



Saturday 12 August | 8pm


One of Cork's most beloved indie rock bands, will be taking the stage in a special acoustic duo formation for an unforgettable night of music. Join us as they unleash their signature catchy pop hooks, melodic guitar riffs, and whimsical lyrics in an intimate, stripped-down setting to round-off Vintage Week 2023!
