BELINDA – A COSTUMED READING

Celebrate the life and legacy of Maria Edgeworth, pioneering novelist, educationalist and early children’s author, recognised by many as the “Mother of the Novel.” Marking the 225th anniversary of Belinda, members of the Maria Edgeworth Centre present a lively costumed performance featuring scenes from the novel that was an inspiration for Jane Austen, who referenced it in Northanger Abbey.

Also featuring Vaughan-Williams spell-binding The Lark Ascending, with Birr Castle’s Music Salon providing a beautiful setting for an unforgettable experience.

THE SONG CYCLE

In 2022, musician and filmmaker Nick Kelly and his friend and ‘Dogs’ collaborator Sean Millar decided to make the trip from Ireland to the Glastonbury Festival - Nick cycling the whole way from Dublin, while Sean was on public transport. Nick’s documentary about the journey proves a celebration of sustainability in its many forms - environmental, cultural and personal.
